Monday, November 2 — Nina Stoyan-Rosenzweig and Carl Van Ness provide insight into the balancing of institutional resources with the role of archivists in preserving an organization’s past records
“To Write A History, You Must Collect It: A History of the College of Medicine at UF,” by Nina Stoyan-Rosenzweig, archivist and education coordinator, Health Science Center Library. Stoyan-Rosenzweig discusses the role of college and library faculty in preserving historical materials, conducting oral histories, addressing gaps in holdings, and creating from varied documents a permanent record of the College of Medicine.
“Sometimes You Need to Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth: A sustainable approach to preserving UF’s material culture,” by Carl Van Ness, manuscripts archivist. As University of Florida Historian, Carl Van Ness looks at the objects people give us and what they may or may not tell us about our past.
