DHWG Meet-Up: DH Library Internship w/Poushali Bhadury

December 6, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Digital Humanities Working Group (DHWG) Meet-Up:

UF Digital Humanities and Library Publishing Internship: Fostering Transformative and Radical Collaborations in the Academy

Poushali Bhadury (Department of English)

Tuesday, 6 December 2016, 2:00 – 3:00 pm, Library West 212 (Scott Nygren Studio)

Join us for an info session on the first Digital Humanities and Publishing Graduate Internship on 6th December, from 2pm – 3pm in Library West 212. Poushali Bhadury, the current DH and Publishing intern (2016-2017), will present on her experience working for the Libraries and discuss her various internship projects. This internship primarily hinges on cultivating academic community building and networking among DH scholars and institutions in Florida. Poushali’s duties include co-convening the Digital Humanities Working Group (DHWG) at UF, co-chairing the THATCamp Gainesville 2017 organizing committee, and working as a member of the Baldwin Library Editorial Collective in charge of peer-reviewing the forthcoming Library Press@UF publication B is for Baldwin: An Alphabet Tour of the Baldwin Library, among several other projects.

The presentation will focus on the ways in which the Internship Program supports and complements interns’ own research and service interests, diversifies their CV, and helps them develop different skill-sets for applying to “alt-ac” employment opportunities beyond traditional academia, such as research library jobs or those as program coordinators for academic organizations. This DHWG meet-up is designed to increase the outreach and visibility of the pioneering Graduate Internship program at the UF Smathers Libraries and encourage more graduate students to apply for these exciting opportunities.

The UF Digital Humanities Working Group (DHWG) is a group of academic and library faculty, staff, and graduate students who meet monthly to discuss current topics at the intersection of digital technologies and the humanities and support each other in project development. The 2016-17 meet-ups will explore the relationship between the “public” and the digital. These informal gatherings are open to anyone at any level of interest or expertise. Come join us for sharing and discussion!
