Teaching Assistant Workshop: How to Facilitate a Successful Class Discussion

Graduate students are invited to attend a workshop about one of the key duties of a teaching assistant: facilitating discussion. The workshop will address some strategies for ensuring discussions are fruitful, focused, and lively. We’ll talk about how to plan discussions in advance as well as how to adjust and accommodate on the fly. We’ll also address some ways to prevent those dreaded long silences and to cope with wayward student comments.
The workshop will be in the conference room on the third floor of Ustler Hall on Wednesday, January 20 from 3-4pm.
